The curriculum at Augusta School of Massage is a teaching format that includes intensive massage therapy training as well as business education to prepare the student for success after program completion. The massage therapy student is also educated in several necessary areas, including the basics of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and allied modalities. The massage school curriculum is primarily based on Swedish massage which serves as the basis for many of the other types taught at the massage school.

For completion, 600 total clock hours are required, leading to approximately 25 weeks of study. For more information visit the Programs and Curriculum page

Augusta School of Massage has a variety of library materials available for student use, including books, professional journals, videos, and audiotapes. Each of these items enriches the students’ learning experience and helps them focus on the massage therapy work they will do in the future.

Books are issued to you for your use during the period of time you are enrolled at ASM. The cost of books is not include in tuition and they must be returned upon graduation.

Augusta School of Massage is a commuter school and does not have any on-campus housing. However, the school will make an effort to assist out-of-town students in finding suitable housing for the duration of the massage therapy course.

Tuition for the massage therapy program is $10,500. This includes the application and enrollment fee, student liability insurance, a school t-shirt, a starter kit of cream and a holster, a resource notebook, and access to ABMP’s Exam Coach. We feel that helping our graduates find employment is a priority at Augusta School of Massage. Although we cannot guarantee placement, once a student has graduated, every effort is made to assist the student in finding satisfying, rewarding work in the field of massage therapy. Augusta School of Massage will keep up-to-date information on hand in the school’s administrative offices regarding businesses interested in hiring or contracting professional massage therapists. Recommendations will be made to prospective employers on behalf of qualified graduates, and information on openings in area businesses will be made available but, ASM cannot assure employment.

By graduating from Augusta School of Massage you will earn a Certificate of Massage Therapy.To be qualified to work in Georgia or South Carolina you must first take and pass the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx) and then meet all other requirements to obtain licensure through each state you plan to work. State licensing requirements can be found on the Secretary of State websites. ASM will make every effort to assist the student in completing these requirements.

A student’s record remains permanently on file at Augusta School of Massage. As all student records are confidential, students must submit a written request and a $5 fee to obtain copies of these records. The student is free to review his or her records free of charge in the presence of an Augusta School of Massage staff member.

After completing the course with a satisfactory grade and meeting all other requirements, Augusta School of Massage provides the students with a Certificate of Completion. This Certificate enables them to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx). Both Georgia and South Carolina accept the MBLEx. Other state’s requirements may vary.

Augusta School of Massages seeks to promote compassion, professionalism, and respect among its employees, faculty, and students to encourage prompt and reasonable resolutions to any problems or concerns that may arise. The school maintains an open-door policy to allow for open and honest communication conducted in an informal and responsible manner to reach these resolutions. The Executive Director, Administrator, Director of Education, Financial Aid, and Staff and Student Support all have separate e-mail addresses that are made accessible to all students. Please follow the guidelines below for resolving grievances: 1. Discuss your concerns with your instructor in class. If the problem is not resolved 2. Discuss your concerns with the Director of Education. If the problem is not resolved at this level, 3. Discuss your concerns with the Executive Director. If the problem is still not resolved a student may file a formal written complaint with the school. The formal complaint must be received by the Executive Director within one week from the discussion between the student and Executive Director and include a description of the events or circumstances with names and/or titles of those involved. Final decisions regarding the grievance will be made by the Executive Director within one week of receiving the formal complaint. If the school’s final resolution is not satisfactory: 4. Please see the website for specific instructions on how to file a complaint with NPEC. Complaints will not be investigated unless the student has exhausted all available grievance procedures outlined by the school.

STUDENT COMPLAINT PROCEDURE

Schools accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges must have a procedure and operational plan for handling student complaints. If a student does not feel that the school has adequately addressed a complaint or concern, the student may consider contacting the Accrediting Commission. All complaints reviewed by the Commission must be in written form and should grant permission for the Commission to forward a copy of the complaint to the school for a response. This can be accomplished by filing the ACCSC Complaint Form. The complainant(s) will be kept informed as to the status of the complaint as well as the final resolution by the Commission.
